The lesson “Large Animal Field Trip Preparation” gives children the opportunity to prepare to visit a local food provider who raises large animals. The children will discuss the similarities and differences between poultry and larger animals, share the knowledge they already have about raising larger animals, and formulate any questions they have for the field trip. The children will also play a game to reinforce their current knowledge of livestock needs. The lesson includes guided instructions for the teacher, including preparation, a script, and suggested activities to facilitate further learning in a fun and interactive manner. This lesson is designed for children between 6-8 years, and is the 24th lesson in the 1st Year “Where Does My Food Come From?” unit.
